Terms of Service
Last updated 29 July 2026
GuideGen is in free early access. It works, it is used in earnest, and it is also young. There is no uptime guarantee and features may change. Keep your own copies of anything that matters — every export format saves a file directly to your computer, which is the best backup available.
These terms apply to the GuideGen browser extension and the website at
guidegen.backpocket.website (and guide-gen.vercel.app, which serves the same site). Using either means you accept them. GuideGen is operated by
Gaurav Singh ("we", "us").
1. What GuideGen does
GuideGen records a workflow you perform in your browser and generates a step-by-step guide from it, which you can edit and export. Optionally you can publish a guide to get a shareable link.
2. Your account
You need an account only to publish guides. You are responsible for keeping your password secure and for activity under your account. Give us an email address you actually control — it is the only way we can reach you about your data or your guides. One person or organisation per account; do not share credentials.
3. Your content stays yours
You own the guides you create. We claim no ownership of them.
When you publish a guide, you grant us the limited permission needed to store it and serve it to people who open your link — nothing more. We do not use your content to train models, we do not show it to anyone you have not given the link to, and we do not repurpose it. Unpublish or delete a guide and that permission ends with it.
4. What you must not record or publish
You are responsible for what appears in your screenshots. Do not use GuideGen to:
- Capture or publish personal data you have no lawful basis to handle or share
- Capture credentials, payment card numbers, health records, or government identifiers
- Publish content that is unlawful, infringing, malicious, or that you have no right to share
- Document a system you are not authorised to access
- Attempt to break, overload, or reverse-engineer the service, or use it to distribute malware
The extension has a redaction tool that permanently pixelates regions before anything is uploaded. Please use it. If you are documenting a system containing other people's data, consider keeping the guide unpublished and sharing an exported file instead — exports never reach us.
5. Fair use
Early access runs on free infrastructure tiers with real limits. We may apply reasonable limits on the number of published guides, storage, or traffic, and we will tell you before restricting anything on your account. If we ever introduce paid plans, existing free users will be given notice and a choice — not a surprise invoice.
6. Availability
The service is provided as-is, with no guarantee of uptime or of preservation of published guides. We may change, suspend or discontinue any part of it. If we shut down the hosted sharing feature, we will give at least 30 days' notice so you can export what you need. The extension itself works without our servers, and always will.
7. Suspension
We may suspend or remove an account or a published guide that breaches these terms, that exposes someone's personal data, or that puts the service at risk. Where circumstances allow we will contact you first.
8. Liability
To the fullest extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, lost profits, or lost data arising from your use of GuideGen. Because the service is currently free, our total liability is limited to the greater of the amount you have paid us — which is nothing — or ₹1,000.
Nothing here limits liability that cannot lawfully be limited.
9. Third-party services
GuideGen relies on Google Firebase and Cloudinary. Their outages are our outages. See the Privacy Policy for what each holds.
10. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. Material changes will be announced to registered users by email, and the date at the top of this page will change. Continuing to use GuideGen after that means you accept the update.
11. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of India, and the courts of Chandigarh have exclusive jurisdiction over any dispute.
